About This Course

This program is designed for faculty members, Master’s and PhD students and researchers who aim to improve their English language skills, academic and article writing skills and their skills for teaching in English by integrating education technologies.

Program takes place online.

You can enroll in all or only some of the courses offered by three different departments of Koç University. You can use the links below to view the courses opened by these departments. After you decide on the courses you want to take, you can create an application for the courses you want by clicking the Online Application link

Candidates must meet the English Proficiency Requirements to attend the courses.

Program Dates

The dates of the courses offered in our program vary between June 21 – July 10, 2021 . Please check the dates and times of the courses you will enroll through the Courses page.

Program Fee

Tuition fee varies according to course length. 2-hour* courses are 350 TL, 3-hour* courses are 500 TL and KOLT course (~ 8 hours) are 800 TL.

Courses are charged individually. Participants who take 4 or more courses are offered a 20% discount on the course fee.

Total course fee includes all online course materials.

* Participant will be able to request up to 30-minute one-on-one office hour from the instructor for each course enrolled (excluding the KOLT course).

Yamen R. Rahwan

Yamen Rahwan holds a PhD degree in English and Comparative Literary Studies from the University of Warwick, UK. Prior to Koç, he worked at Aleppo University, Özyeğin University and Istanbul Bilgi University, teaching both academic writing and literature. Dr. Rahwan has a wide range of academic interests in languages, philosophy, and modern world-literature.

Kamuran Osmanoğlu

Kamuran Osmanoğlu is a Lecturer at the Academic Writing Program at Koç. He received his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Kansas. Before joining Koç, he taught philosophy at the University of Kansas and Bilkent University. He has multiple years of experience in teaching writing to professionals and researchers from different disciplines. He continues his research in philosophy of (social) science, philosophy of mind, and ethics of technology.

Feyza Özalp

Feyza Ozalp holds a PhD degree in Science of Arts. She has worked at the university level for over 20 years. Her academic interests include instructional design, content-based curriculum design, ESP course design, critical and analytical thinking in the English language classroom as well as literature, philosophy and arts.

Sarah Rachel Amar

Sarah Amar is a Training Assistant Specialist at the Koç Üniversitesi Office of Learning and Teaching (KOLT). Before moving to Turkey, she worked as the program manager of a master’s degree program in international history at Columbia University and as the Columbia pilot site coordinator of History in Action, a grant awarded by the American Historical Association and the Mellon Foundation as part of their Career Diversity for Historians Initiative. Prior to that, she taught English with the U.S. Peace Corps in Samoa and worked in a variety of roles for the Conference on World Affairs at the University of Colorado-Boulder. She earned her joint MA/MSc in international history at Columbia University and the London School of Economics and her BA in English literature at the University of Colorado-Boulder. She also has a Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA).
